P0113 intake air temperature circuit high input

The IAT is a thermistor that varies resistance based on temperature. As the temperature increases , resistance decreases. Low temperature in a high signal voltage.

Check the Air Temperature Reading. Allow the engine to run until it is warm.

Use a scan gauge to compare the air temperature reading to the coolant temperature. Typically, a functional IAT sensor will report a slightly lower temperature than the coolant temperature sensor. On most cars the IAT is located in the air intake box.

Look around the intake box for a cylindrical shaped object with a two wire lead. If you don’t find two wires, the IAT may be integrated with the MAF sensor. Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit High Input Problem.

The IAT sensor is located in the air intake passage of the engine air induction system. The temperature sensing unit uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature.

Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases in response to the temperature rise. This provides critical data needed for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to control the Air Fuel Ratio , the Ignition Spark Timing and many components of the Emission Control Systems. Common trouble symptoms if this sensor fails includes improper idling and poor driving characteristics. The sensor detects intake air temperature and transmits a signal to the Engine Control Module ().

This trouble code specifically refers to a bad intake air temperature sensor. More specifically, it means there is a high input issue with the circuit. Rough running engine due to misfiring plugs.

Rarely - faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM-programming required after replacement) A large air leak at or near the number one oxygen sensor would also cause a lean mixture. Set conditions, the PCM detects that the IAT Sensor input voltage is above the maximum acceptable threshold. When I reset the code, it comes back almost immediately as soon as I start the vehicle.

I am looking to replace the IAT Sensor, as I believe this will fix the problem. This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a generic powertrain code, which means that it applies to OBD-II equipped vehicles. The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the temperature of the air entering the engine. The IAT temperature reading on the scan tool should be maxed out at the high end.

For example it should be 2degrees Farenheit or higher. If it is, the wiring is okay, and it may have been the connection. MAF problem, possibly loose or needs a cleaning?

An intake air temperature sensor can be located in the intake air duct from the air filter box or in the intake manifold to the engine. It’s job is to report the temperature of the outside air being drawn into the engine.
