Probably time to replace the aux. Not a huge deal, easily done. But seems too soon, get thee to a dealer. The smaller battery is the auxiliary battery and it must be failing.
Part of the point in the dual battery system is to keep you safely operating when one fails, so you may not notice anything besides the warning, but you should get the battery replaced to prevent any other problems.

Interestingly enough, Distronic Plus Inoperable message and Highbeam Assist Inoperable messages started too, along with parktronic not working - maybe related? This stopped the ECO function working (maybe no bad thing!) and sometimes stopped the HOLD function operating. On my version this battery is located in the boot next to the spare wheel. Accessories are removed as needed for access.

Your main problem would be if the main battery failed or if the alternator failed the auxiliary battery would probably not be able to keep the system voltage up for very long. I have recently had the auxiliary battery malfunction warning message appear. After looking at the car and researching on the internet, I have been unable to find where the auxiliary battery is located on this model, if indeed I actually have one?
